Your information, handled plainly.

What this site collects, why it is collected, who helps process it, and what you can ask me to do with it.

Privacy should be understandable without a translation layer.

This notice describes the practices of Devela Enterprises LLC d/b/a John Shipp and Associates, the operator of JohnShipp.com. In this notice, “I” and “me” refer to John Shipp and the company operating this site.

01 / Scope

Where this notice applies

This notice applies to this public website, its inquiry forms, and communications that begin through the site. It does not replace the privacy, confidentiality, or data-processing terms in a signed client agreement.

Other websites and products linked from this site—including LinkedIn, GitHub, and seeProgress.ai—operate under their own privacy notices. Their practices apply after you leave this site.

02 / Information collected

What may be collected

Information you provide

Depending on the form you use, this may include your name, email address or phone number, company name and website, the kind and timing of help you are seeking, desired level of involvement, the page that led you to the form, and your message. If you contact me by email or phone, I also receive the information included in that communication.

Please do not send passwords, access credentials, private keys, protected health information, sensitive customer data, or other secrets through a website form.

Information collected automatically

When you visit, the site and its providers may receive technical and usage information such as your IP address, approximate location, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, links or calls to action used, form-progress events, and request timestamps. Server logs may also record requests, errors, and security events.

Analytics events describe activity—for example, that a contact form was started or that an engagement category was selected. The site is not configured to send the text you type into inquiry fields to analytics providers.

03 / How it is used

Why the information is used

  • To review, qualify, respond to, and keep a business record of inquiries.
  • To operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the site.
  • To understand which pages and calls to action are useful.
  • To prevent spam, fraud, misuse, and other security problems.
  • To comply with legal obligations and protect legal rights.

Depending on the context and applicable law, these activities are carried out to take steps you request, for legitimate business interests, with consent where requested, or to comply with legal obligations.

04 / Analytics and cookies

The measurement and security tools in use

Google Analytics 4 measures visits and interaction events. Google Analytics generally uses first-party cookies, including a browser identifier, and may process device, browser, network, approximate-location, and usage information. You can learn about Google Analytics data practices or install Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on .

Fathom Analytics provides aggregate, privacy-focused measurement of pages, referrers, devices, locations, and site events. Fathom states that its analytics service does not use cookies and describes its processing in its data journey .

Cloudflare Turnstile is used on the inquiry form to distinguish legitimate submissions from automated abuse. It processes browser and device signals as described in Cloudflare’s Turnstile Privacy Addendum .

You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Blocking some storage or scripts may reduce analytics collection and may affect security verification or other site features.

05 / Sharing and transfers

Who may process information

I do not sell or rent personal information, and I do not use information collected by this site to deliver targeted advertising.

Information may be disclosed to providers that support website hosting and infrastructure, email delivery, analytics, spam prevention, and security. Those providers process information under their own terms or service agreements. Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful process, investigate abuse, protect rights or safety, or support a business reorganization.

Providers may process information in the United States and other countries, where privacy rules may differ from those where you live. Their terms and privacy notices describe the transfer mechanisms and safeguards they use.

06 / Retention and security

How long information is kept

Inquiry and correspondence records are kept only as long as reasonably useful for responding, maintaining business records, resolving disputes, protecting the site, and meeting legal or accounting obligations. Retention varies with the nature of the inquiry and whether it becomes a client relationship. Analytics and infrastructure providers retain information according to their settings and policies.

Reasonable administrative and technical measures are used to protect information. No website, transmission, or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure, so sensitive material should be shared only through an agreed secure channel.

07 / Your choices

Questions and requests

You may ask whether I hold personal information about you and request access, correction, or deletion. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights such as restriction, objection, portability, or appeal. I may need to verify your identity, and some information may be retained where required or permitted by law.

To make a request, email [email protected] . You may also use the browser and Google Analytics controls described above.
